Goofy Cafe & Dine (no, we didn’t miss the “r”) is hidden from the rest of Waikiki, over on Ala Moana BLVD as it bends from Waikiki to the bridge that takes buses, cars, and trolleys over to Ala Moana Center. It’s perched above another shop and is neighbored by a tattoo parlor. If you didn’t know it was there you wouldn’t know it was there.
But once you step in you know you’ve found something pretty darn cool. Influenced by Japanese surf culture, which is directly influenced by Hawaiian and SoCal surf culture, the cafe is adorned with gorgeous wave-riding crafts and assorted beach decor. The reclaimed wood interior give it a real beach shack vibe, but you can also tell that a lot of thought went into the cozy second-floor nook.
The breakfast and brunch (served all day) is also better than what you find back over on the main drag of Kalakaua Avenue. Let the tourists stand in line at Eggs & Things while you bask in the vibes of Goofy Cafe & Dine.
