Surf Garage is an apt name for this King Street Honolulu shop. On the outside it’s as unassuming as any other brick and mortar in this mixed residential-commercial district. But inside is where the magic happens. One step within and you’ll find some of the most impressive machines on the island, but those made to ride waves and not asphalt. The knowledgable and super-friendly husband and wife owners are more than happy to chat about the stacks of new and vintage surfboards on display. The walls and display cases also evidence decades of surf memorabilia and paraphernalia collecting. There is also lots in the way of modern gear and accessories for those who want to grab some fins, wax, and board shorts for their next session at Ala Moana Bowls. In addition, Surf Garage stocks branded t-shirts, tank tops, hats, and stickers for those who want to display their new found allegiance to what is clearly the best surf shop on the island.
